my clinical pract was scheduled for today.
butterflies in my tummy.cold hands. i entered the rm. LOL
i was the 1st one... but, nt really 1st coz a few others followed me in too. l0ls.

my pick:
I/M buscopan 20mg stat
infusion pump-regulation

collected the apporiate equiptments. n yes, i gt a super nice lecturer, mr mike goh.
LOL! hey, he's really nice. =]

assessment as usual..bla bla bla.
i had problems getting the liquid medication down b4 i broke the ampule.
no matter hw hard i shook, it dint wana go down..l0l!
me kind lil angel helped me.he got it down wif a strong flick.
broke the ampule, and started to draw...
zzz! it was 20mg in 1ml.
drew out, flick the syringe to get the bubbles out, push e needle a lil n....
zzz! a little of the medication flew out.
gone. i had lyk 0.8ml or 0.9ml -.-
okays. i was given another chance.
but same tink again! wth.

picture tis.
a needle.
a lil liquid at e inside tip of the needle - AIR till the entrance of syringe to ard 0.2ml -
n so, i had to expel the air out.
so no matter wad, that lil bit of medication wld still fly out -.-

ROARS. sch is mad, they onli gave us each ONE ampule to break n practise n expect us to be GOD?
we relied on the ONE and ONLY broken ampule 4 our practises, oways filled it up to the brim, which is much much more den the new stock volume.
tat is y we arent able to draw the PRECISE amt in the real practs.
stingy. they shld really more linent, allow at least 0.1-0.2ml range.
we aint experts.
we can be, if we were give MORE NEW ampules to practise on.
so many people failed on jus tis part
its a real pity.
coz i had all the right technique n all.
oh well!
i will rmb hw precsion is so important for life coz i failed tis once =S

alrites, back to wher i stopped.
mr goh said.. okays. nvm. continue.
he dint tell me he was going to fail me wif those innocent eyes. LOL!
so i continue, give e jab n all..

continued wif the regulation of I/V normal saline 0.9%
all went well.

only after the end, he said.
u've done very well
however, coz i wasnt able to draw exactly 1ml of the medication, he has to fail me 4 tat one skill.
it wasnt tat bad.
he spoke nicely.
i wasnt really sad or wad coz i knew wad went wrong.
i nid more practise wif NEW ampules.
i hope the wld provide them for the remedials! LOL

at least
now my mind can rest n stop worrying. LOL
=D

not 4 long.
coz bio pract's next wk. LOL
but i love bio! =]
